The aim of International GIS Day celebrations is to create awareness on geography, geoinformatics, cartography and other disciplines related to these subjects, raise the geographic literacy in schools and educational institutions and support geography teachers to use GIS in curriculum. More than 80 countries will participate in holding local events such as corporate open houses, hands-on workshops, community expos, school assemblies, and more (www.gisday.com). Estonian Geoinformatics Society with it partners organize GIS Day events every year on November National Library of Estonia Tõnismägi 2, Tallinn Estonia.
